Newsletter October 2022 performingbordersConstellations Part II

14th October 2022

For this month’s newsletter the performingborders team continues to expand our new research paths, introduced back in June.

For her next chapter of On Work, Alessandra questions are answered by teresa cisneros, a Chicanx Londoner curandera and curator of people originally from the Mexico-Texas border, in conversation with Dr. Marquard Smith. On Work is a series of interviews with UK-based and international practitioners to learn, unlearn, gather and share knowledge to build safe and fair spaces for collective labour.

Anahí expands on Bodies in Resistance/ Encuerpando Resistancia, a series focusing on the body as a site of resistance, and those sitting in spaces of embodied practice, referencing the legacy of feminist Latin American movements and their work choreographing resistance. This month, Anahí talks to Clara M. García, a feminist and union organizer and comrade. Together they discuss choreographies of resistance, embodied politics and unpack what it means to do cross-border feminist work and translate feminismos transfronterizos.

This month, we are also collating some of the experiences and documentation of places we have been to in September, as a way of honouring some of the research we are doing, the thinking around them, the art works and performances we are seeing and sharing with you some pbPOSTCARDS from our visits to documenta15 (Kassel, Germany) and TNT Festival (Terrassa, Catalunya).
