performingborders pamphlet # 2: an*dre neely

10th May 2024

We are excited to launch performingborders’ second pamphlet presenting the work of an*dre neely, the third artist that was selected as part of the open call for experimental writing commissions launched last Autumn in collaboration with performance, possession + automation.

This month we are thrilled to present:

Pre-Submission: Fully Fledged tight guard breeding HIDDEN CAMERA (LEAKED)

In this new experimental writing and video work an*dre looks at national European border control systems and the many ways automated processes, thinly veiled as security measures, encroach on our ability to exist freely outside of surveillance capitalism. Through text and a video featuring avatars and AI generated footage, this commission shines a light on racist and xenophobic anti-migrant policy and how ideas around security, safety and control enter our lives in intimate and absurd ways.

These commissions are supported by Arts Council England, Arts and Humanities Research Council, and Necessity Fund.
