We’re excited to announce that mother tongues is in residency at performingborders from February 2023!
After a long time admiring their work from afar, we have invited Kaya and Vania to sit amongst our resources, to think through and with all of the practices that intersect our digital platform, and to respond to what they find. We begin from a shared interest in language(s) and the use of the body itself to generate cross-border dialogue.
For this residency, we’re working with iniva (Institute for International Visual Arts), through which mother tongues will also be using the resources and collections at Stuart Hall Archive and Library throughout their residency.
More updates about their work with us to come as their time within the platform progresses!
About mother tongues: mother tongues is a transdisciplinary research-led project applying decolonial, feminist, and queer pedagogies to explore language and archival collections. Their practice responds to languageās impact on personal and collective empowerment through experimental archival research. www.mothertoungues.co.uk | IG: @mother.tongues_
