What the f**k is a ‘national identity’? And what exactly constitutes a ‘nation’?
We have grown up in a Europe with open doors and with the advances of the internet. We are accustomed to travelling, exchanging, engaging and collaborating with people of different nationalities to our own. However there are constant waves of nationalism wanting us to keep our borders tightly closed to outsiders and reminding us of how Great we once were.
POST is a theatre show inviting you to sit at the table, eat, drink, get merry, make new friends and explore what exactly makes a ‘nation’.
‘This is a production of consummate ease and huge sensitivity.’
– A Younger Theatre
Commissioned by Ovalhouse Theatre, with support from Bike Shed Theatre, Marlborough Theatre, Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Camden People’s Theatre and Tempting Failure Festival. Additional funding by Arts Council England.
*The performance on the 11 November will be followed by a Queer Migrant Takeover Party at Toynbee Studios in partnership with the UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group and performing borders. The party will give migrant friends a platform and rebalance the power to celebrate everything migrants bring to the UK.
This special event will feature performances, installations and talks by local migrant artists, in a celebration of multi-culturalism and above all, our migrant communities. All are welcome.
