performingborders newsletter | March 2025
21st March 2025 March 2025 Newsletter
Over the last few months, we have been busy working with, commissioning and supporting various projects, reflections and responses which are excited to publish and share across our platform and networks.
In Irresolute repairs, pending revolution, curator and writer Rahila Haque writes in response to artist Farida Yesmin’s workshop and participatory performance Stitching Bangladesh, reflecting on the student-led revolution in Bangladesh as well as the entanglements of nationalism, generational trauma and the symbolism of Bangladesh’s flag.
Ming Strike Podcast collaborated with Ensemble Not Found on a special episode titled “An Audio Documentary of 5 Self-Organizing ESEA Artist Groups in the UK.” What began as a casual exchange of ideas grew into a rich, multi-layered exploration of life and work as migrant artists in the UK. Now you can listen in Chinese and/or read in English on the performingborders platform.
Featuring poetry by collaborator Byuka, Giulia Casalini‘s text ‘There’s no border in the horizon: Burned House Horizon’s queer trans-feminist time travelling and border crossings’ reflects and expands on multidisciplinary exhibition Burned House Horizon (Mimosa House, London, February 2024)
We have also gone back to inteviewing artists, something we have long missed doing, and this year we were privileged to be able to talk with artist Yudi Wu whose practice focuses on creating paces for vulnerability, connection, and resistance among queer, migrant and neurodiverse ecologies.
Finally, we are excited to invite you to join us on the 9th of April for ‘Where do we come in?’, a free collective reading session at Chisenhale Gallery exploring themes within Claudia Pagès Rabal’s exhibition Five Defence Towers. Following from that, at the end of April we are going to Porto, Portugal, to be in residency at Dias Da Dança Festival (Teatro Municipal Rivoli) with our Live Art Writers Network project, but we shall let you know more about that very, very soon
