performingborders newsletter | April 2023

14th April 2023

We are thrilled to share the second newsletter of the year starting with a reminder to join us for Our Bodies in the Commons on Saturday 29th April at Battersea Arts Centre in London. The event is currently sold out, however, BAC is running a waiting list for both the morning and afternoon sessions, and we encourage you to sign up for that and/or turn up on the day of the event, as we expect there to be some tickets at the door.

Continuing our collaboration with Vijay Mathew, Co-Founder of Howlround Theatre Commons and Cultural Strategist, we’re excited to share with you a new text and resource about building effective, equitable, and collective modes of operation in the arts sector: Applying Disability Justice, Climate Justice, and Solidarity Economics to your Digital Practice. The text is the result of a conversation that was had between performingborders, our friends at Untethered Magic, and Vijay in February 2023 during our residency with Untethered Magic in Rongai (Kenya).

Finally, we continue our collaboration with Montez Press Radio to produce bi-monthly explorations on the entanglement between Live Art and notions and lived experiences of intersectional and transnational borders. Coming up on Thursday 18th of May, airing at 4 PM BST we look forward to revisiting the audio works in Diana Damian Martin’s 2021 newsletter commission Spells for a border town (retrocedare) with the artist herself.
