The Live Art Writers Network (LAWN) cultivates and supports experimental writing in response to live art and performance. This space seeks to address the lack of resources dedicated to critical, reflective, and experimental writing in the live art sector, particularly for practitioners whose work is informed by lived experiences of intersectional borders. By incubating multidisciplinary, creative and critical responses to performance and live art, LAWN responds to conversations happening on a local level whilst linking to transnational dialogue on performance, publishing, labour, and political action.
LAWN is an on-going interative project engaging writers across the UK and internationally. It is an evolving network of writers and artists that collaborates with festivals and arts organisations, as part of short term and long term residencies, events, workshops and more.
Collaborations include: Fierce Festival 2024 (Birmingham, UK), Take Me Somewhere 2024 + 2025 (Glasgow, Scotland) Citemor Festival 2024 + 2025 (Montemor, Portugal), Metal Peterborough (Peterborough, UK), DDD – Dias da Dança Festival 2025 (Porto, Portugal), Metal Southend (Southend-on-Sea, UK), HowlRound Theatre Commons (Boston, USA), Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (London, UK).
